1. What brought you to ganbatte and what keeps you here?

A friend of mine on the East coast had gotten into Crossfit and it sounded like something my husband would enjoy. He had been thinking about joining a gym and found Ganbatte.  I joined a few months later to improve my fitness level in preparation to hike the Oregon section of the PCT. A family emergency forced me to leave a few short months later and then life kept me away for a while. It was an easy choice to come back after my daughter was born because we knew Ganbatte is very family friendly.  It's hard work, but being in such a supportive environment makes it easy to keep challenging myself to get better. Not to mention, Luna gets to grow up watching strong women and men taking care of themselves.

2. If you were to make your own bench mark work out what would it be ?

I have to admit that I really enjoy the grueling endurance type workouts. If I made a benchmark it would be a good mix of movements for several rounds. Something that would inspire JP to say, "and one more thing..." when everyone is laying on the ground completely wrecked.

3. What skill would you want to master in time for a zombie invasion and why?

Those sand bag runs are probably good practice for carrying an injured person away from the zombies!

 

4. What is your proudest ganbatte moment?

I can't think of one specific moment, but getting a new PR is always a good feeling, and it keeps happening since I have been slowly building back up to my prebaby fitness level. It'll be great when I get back to that level and get to keep improving.

 

5.  Ganbatte as a verb and how do you enact on it?

Doing my best is how I try to approach my workouts and my daily life. I have never been into competitive sports, but self competition always drives me to work a little harder and do a little better than the time before. We all have good days and bad days, but I do my best to show up both physically and mentally each time I come to Ganbatte. Otherwise, shouldn't I have just stayed home?
