What brought you to Ganbatte and what keeps you here?

After a lifetime of sitting on the sidelines, I decided to join Ganbatte. I grew up with “You are going to get hurt if you do… ANYTHING!” So I joined the high school band! Yeah, I know! I then developed an eating disorder and you can only imagine what that did to my confidence and life. Soon after, an autoimmune disease kicked me in the butt and I spent eight years looking for the right balance for my health and life! Nothing ever worked! I had a high stress job, no energy, no strength or direction. Fortunately, my better half joined Ganbatte and I immediately saw what it did to his life.

I joined Ganbatte on October 5, 2011. I remember specifically because my entire life shifted on that day. The best part of it all was that after an eight-year struggle with my disease, I stopped hurting. My body just makes sense with Crossfit! That is the best way I can describe it! I immediately felt balanced and was able to sleep, eat, and rest.  Never in a million years did I ever think I would be able to function and actually run a half-marathon, compete, and even workout while pregnant.

I choose to continue this journey with Ganbatte because it is my safe place. At Ganbatte I don’t feel judged or criticized, which is what led me to an unhealthy life style in my teen years. At Ganbatte, I feel strong enough to fail, because my Ganbatte family truly believes in my potential. Ganbatte has changed the lives of my husband, one of my closest friends, and my brother. Plus, I am now a mother and NEED for my little one to experience this safe place with me! Why would I ever go anywhere else?

What skill would you like to have mastered in time for a Zombie Invasion?

Ya’ll need to go to church! But, if I had to…  “Armless rope climbs” because they’re going after these guns first!!!




My proudest ganbatte moment?

Too many!!! I want to say that getting the courage to workout while pregnant was a proud moment in itself.  With my health issues, I was scared to put my body through any kind of “extra stress” during pregnancy. I soon learned that I was already too mentally and physically strong to stop working out during pregnancy. I pulled through up until a week and a half prior to giving birth and I honestly felt like such a badass! I think that’s why my kid is such a badass herself! She really is!!!




Ganbatte verb and how do you enact on it?

I truly believe in Ganbatte and “doing my best” because since I joined, I have focused on doing my best in all aspects of life, not just at the gym. I am blessed to have a husband that lives and understands Ganbatte and we hope to transcend this lifestyle to our dearest C-Rae. ;) It is important for her to engage in whatever activity she chooses whether it be, dance, basket weaving, baseball, marching band (I really hope not!) as long as she enjoys it and can Ganbatte!!!
