What brought you to Ganbatte and what keeps you here?

My body at age 58 was no longer in shape, and I wanted to change the direction it was heading. The team at Crossfit Ganbatte showed me that I can turn things around, and that if you show up, they will help me overcome any obstacles to attaining my physical goals.  They inspire me to do more and bring out the best in me. ( Its a great FAMILY to be in)


If you can name a benchmark WOD after yourself, what would it be?

ha ha ha!  I'd name it Melted Butter. That is how I feel many times after a great workout at Ganbatte! I love every movement!! I have to get back to you on this JP..


What have you learned inside the box, that you've been able to apply outside the box?

I have learned that I can recover my strength so I can do what I want to do in life. I've learned how to pick an object up so that I don't injure my back, and how to run properly so that my knees don't get injured.


Which skill would you most like to have mastered in time for a Zombie invasion?

ha ha ha!  I think being able to RUN faster would be very useful if ZOMBIES were chasing me.


What is your proudest Ganbatte Memory?

Deadlifting 153 lbs.  I didn't think I could do it but everyone encouraged me to go for it. AND I LIFTED IT!!  I told everyone at my work about it ...at least two times. I couldn't believe it, and I remember when I first started, I couldn't even lift a barbell. You are right!! Ganbatte is a place where  " Ordinary people become Extraordinary" and IT IS A PLACE  "where I'm INSPIRED and MOTIVATED!!"

What brought you to Ganbatte and what keeps you here?

My friends brought me to Ganbatte, and realizing that I needed to get myself in shape for my daughter Rebecca is what keeps me here. I want to be able to set a good example for my daughter. Ganbatte is a second home for my family. Being able to work out with friends and having my wife and daughter to push me while I'm getting an amazing workout is priceless..


If you can name any benchmark WOD after yourself, what would it be?

5 Rounds

10 Deadlifts (225lbs) - I'm strong with deadlifts

15 Burpee Box jumps - I'm efficient with this movement

20 situps - I need to work on and get faster with.


What have you learned inside the box that you've been able to apply outside the box?

Never give up…I know it sounds cliché but Crossfit challenges you both mentally and physically. It is amazing what you are able to accomplish by pushing yourself to complete a WOD or completing a difficult task at work or in life.


Which skill would you most like to have mastered in time for the Zombie invasion?

Double Unders!!! Not sure how useful it would be in a zombie invasion but it is one element that takes Patience, Timing and Control.


What's your proudest Crossfit memory?

1. Becoming part of the 4 wheel club.

2. During our Fight Gone Bad event! I was 6 reps short from my goal, I prepared for it and I did my best which is what our gym stands for. That event also inspired my wife to be part of the gym. Made her understand why I crossfit a lot and why I love coming to Ganbatte.
